Progress is moving forward towards solutions and better outcomes, yet CA “progressives” consistently go backwards towards failure. The problem with these self-described “progressives” is that they aren’t really interested in actual progress.

Wether it’s regressive attempts to re-segregate society, outright encouragement of life destroying addiction, enabling of violent criminals, or misogynistic demands to undue 100 years of hard fought women’s rights, the policies promoted in CA have a long history of complete failure. Every totalitarian moron thinks “this time it’s different,” and every time it’s not actually all that different.

For a bunch of people who fancy themselves “enlightened,” actual improvement in their communities and quality of life completely elude the movement. Yet they keep marching steadily towards more failures. The last century proved that Marxist “reforms” result in nothing more than destruction of actual human beings and the fabric of society, yet the regressive “progressives” take to the streets and loudly proclaim, despite all evidence to the contrary, that as Marxists they see themselves as being “educated, morally superior, and elite.” 🤦‍♀️

Conservatives built California over generations and a single generation of regressive “progressives” are intent on destroying it. CA progressives are already a laughing stock to the sane. History will rightly ridicule this ridiculous (not actually) “progressive” CA insanity as one of the dumbest and least reasoned political movements in human history.

Good points. I've long tired of everyone (including their enemies) calling these ignorant, virtue-signalling, and counter-productive folks "progressives." Indeed, they are entirely regressive. These soft-on-crime policies were tried in the late 60's and 70's and found to be an utter failure. The core thing that unifies these so-called "progressives" is a profound ignorance combined with a resistance to looking at observable fact.

Sad!

A decade ago I would have said “who cares what adults do, people do ridiculous stuff all the time.” However, as it has become a “cause” I have come to agree with you. The objective factual reality is that a person born with a Y chromosome will NEVER be a “real” woman. To place the delusions of men above safety and fairness for real woman and girls is regressive misogyny, plan and simple.

😂. It’s so ridiculous. Objective factual truth is denied by these people who appear to want to live in Dante’s Inferno where there is nothingness.

What I really want to know is what kids are supposed to do. They can’t simply look down and say what they are, they are supposed to justify it by “feelings” in adult terms they can’t possible understand. 🤦‍♀️ My kids are 1/4 Cuban (many of their friends are at least as “mixed,” whatever that means). If they check the “white, non-Hispanic” box they are bigots denying their Cuban ancestry. But, if they check they are Hispanic, they are bigoted privileged white kids trying to “steal” opportunity from “oppressed” kids who are a “real” minority. 🙄.

It’s all so stupid. While there is no “right” way to be a girl/ woman or a boy/ man, like all mammals, there are two distinct sexes (and occasional deformities within each sex, not between them). Likewise, there is one human race with a great variety of societal cultures and physical appearances within the single biological human race.

All of this mental gymnastics to redefine “feelings” and compliance with social norms into immutable physical realities they will never be is exhausting. And it’s destructive.

I lived in NYC in the early 1990's when they recorded a still-standing homicide record. You could feel the positive change on the streets in 1992 compared to 1990. This was due to the policies implemented by Bratton, while he was at NYC Transit Police. Then later as Police Commissioner.

Minneapolis, as noted in the article, is a 4-banger on NYC's homicide rate in 2020. As the article notes, homicide victims are disproportionately black and male. In 2020, black men were 8-times more represented in homicides than they were in the population of Minneapolis. Homicide victims as declared by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner based on their race were:

Black - 81% (black males 73%)

Native American - 6%

White - 5%

Hispanic - 5%

Asian - 1%

Other Non-White - 1%

Beverly Hills mostly has 0 homicides in a given year. I think they had 1 last year. That is why Oprah Winfrey's world was turned upside down. A rich person in Beverly Hills, with 24/7 personal security, was murdered. Maybe Oprah could go talk to the folks in North Minneapolis about their world.

I arrived there in 95. Those were great times to be young and in NYC. Crime had plummeted. I had a cheap place in Queens and would come home on a full Subway at 4am without a worry. Now everything is more expensive and more dangerous at the same time. My friends tell me I wouldn't recognize the place now, it is a Bloombergified playground for the corporates now.

Oprah claims to talk for them, so she doesn’t see a need to talk to them…….

The solution involves progressives/liberals admitting error, and that will never happen. For some, the narcissistic conviction of intellectual superiority is too great a hurdle to clear; for the rest, they hate the country as founded and want to destroy it. Rising violence is simply a weapon in their arsenal.

Being leftist means never having to say you’re sorry.

Liberals never admit mistakes and just double down on them. I'm sure they are sitting around saying that crime is going up because they didn't completely defund and eliminate the police yet. Their next logical step will be to eliminate the laws. If nothing is illegal, there is no crime. It won't be the liberals to fix this problem they created. Non liberals will have to remove liberals from all positions of authority if this problem is to be solved.

Sometimes finding the right path means turning around and going back to where you got on the wrong path in the first place.

"Street crime fell 80 percent without a significant change in population structure, age distribution, or incarceration, which undermines the belief that those factors cause crime." The 80 percent decline does not imply that population structure, age distribution or incarceration do not cause crime. Indeed, there is a vast and compelling literature that they do, particularly age. What it implies is that other factors affect the crime rate as well.

If you expect progressives to apologize for anything, you're dreaming. The only way this ideological bankruptcy gets stopped is when it directly affects a critical number of elitists who love to talk the talk, because they believe they're immune from walking the walk. As it happens the marauders are now targeting upscale stores--and upscale neighborhoods.

Americans shouldn't be happy that ANYONE is being targeted--but who's kidding whom?

The Goff character: Stanford, Harvard and, yes, here we go ... every time:

"In 1999, Goff co-founded the Oakland, California-based queer hip hop group Deep Dickollective. During his time as a musician in this group, he was known as "Lightskindid Philosopher" or LSP."

Goff knows that if you criticize him, you will be called many many bad names. And it works.

Why don't you go into a hospital involuntarily for a month and write a short, emotional, non-factual piece.? And what does "serious mental illness" mean? Menopause?

Medical technology has improved since the 1990s, including, I understand, emergency rooms's ability to save lives.

Could this play into the reason why there were so many more homicides in the past: mainly that medical technology today can save lives not possible to do so 30+ years ago.

I often hear from my pothead friends that people are/were getting 20 year sentences for 1 once of weed. Was that even true?

Expand full comment

No!!! There may be a few anecdotal cases in California and the federal system. Even as far back as 10 years in places like Philadelphia and Baltimore, people were getting No Further Penalty sentences, fines or at the most probation, for any weed offense.

Expand full comment

Al Gore's kid was caught with weed *checks notes* no he did not get a 20 year sentence. :)

Expand full comment

Rarely. While there were certainly instances solved by the 2017 Trump/ Scott first step act, a majority of the harsh convictions for weed were from people who had really hurt/ assaulted/ raped/ mugged people, but the cops couldn’t get the victims to testify because the victims feared for their personal safety.

In any event, that doesn’t happen anymore, so what is the justification for letting a career violent criminal, domestic abuser, and child rapist out to go run over innocent people at a Christmas parade? Those stories are more than just anecdotal. Look at what happened in Chicago this weekend. Or every day. 75% of violent criminals let out from no bail commit another violent act before their trial. And since when is assault a “non-violent” offense? It’s only because the “progressives” claim violence is equity

I was a lifelong Democrat-only voter until 2016 when I decided to give Trump a chance. While I still like his policies, he has proven to be relatively ineffective (swamp drained him, not the other way around), and creates more controversy than necessary. Still, he opened my eyes to the nuttiness of the Democrats and the complete fakeness of the news (which I had believed up until 2016).

DeSantis could be amazing. But I'm afraid that he and Trump get into a big primary battle, one that neither would benefit from. The mainstream Democrats these days are so lunatic that the Republicans really need to stay united so they can save us from the madness.

Gabbard too is a clear thinker and not a nutcase.

Cheers!
