Over the last century, Western societies have reduced racial, sexual, and religious prejudice so significantly that moralizing students were forced to invent the category of “micro-aggression” so they could feel part of the struggle to overcome oppression.
It turns out that elites viewed these remarkable levels of tolerance as a problem and, in reaction to Brexit, the election of Donald Trump, and a perceived threat to NATO and the liberal world order, they hyped remaining racial, sexual, and religious divisions to demand censorship.
